Volunteer Spotlight: Ode to Joy! (OrchPress Fall 2017)

When we think of dedication and volunteerism, we think of Joy Munster! This being the first newsletter of OrchKids’ 10 year anniversary, it seems fitting that we celebrate a volunteer who has been with us since the early years of the program. Joy has been an active and dependable member of the OrchKids team for over 8 years. In addition to all the hours she has dedicated to helping students in the after school program, Joy has served as the OrchKids volunteer coordinator for the Baltimore Symphony Associates; funded the initial purchase of harps for the harp program; opened her home to countless guests artists; and hosted holiday parties, and coat and school supply drives for OrchKids students. Joy is an amazing ambassador for the program and regularly invites OrchKids to her Roland Park Women’s Club to help spread the word about how this music for social change program is transforming the lives of Baltimore City students. Thank you, Joy – we couldn’t do it without you!

“Joy is dedicated to making the OrchKids program the most successful program offered to underserved youth in Baltimore. Her goal is to give educational opportunities to the students and their parents-not just academic but social and cultural.”
