Aldo D. Rivera Renteria

Artistic and Program Operations Manager

Aldo is a percussionist, educator, and the Artistic and Program Operations Manager at OrchKids. He has degrees in percussion performance from Towson University (BM & MM) and Montgomery College (AA). As a percussionist, Aldo is as versatile as his instrument, performing professionally with symphony orchestras, wind ensembles, rock and pop bands, pit orchestras, jazz combos, choirs, experimental ensembles, and solo work. Some of the ensembles he has performed with include Opera Lafayette, Paragon Philarmonia, Avanti Orchestra, Harmonic Introductions – Overtone Choir, Maryland Band Directors Band, as well as collaborations with visual artists and other musician friends. Some of Aldo’s teachers include Dr. Michelle Humphreys, Marc Dinitz, Steve Lawrence, and Mike Noonan.

In addition to performing, Aldo has been teaching music for nearly a decade through private lessons and through various social media outlets. As a Mexican immigrant, he understands the need of education and support for minority families navigating the complex socio-economic world we live in which is why he is a strong believer that the work OrchKids does is invaluable for the Baltimore community and beyond.

Outside of music he likes photography, making salsas, and nature.
