Alex Kropp

Lead Program Coordinator

Mt. Royal Elementary/Middle School & Highlandtown Elementary/Middle School #237

Alex Kropp is an active free-lancer and private teacher in the Baltimore community as well as a part-time barista. With a passion for serving her community and for the world of musical arts, she first experienced her true love for classical music by winning an audition for a youth orchestra in high school. This experience led to her developing a profound respect for programs like OrchKids that make an impact on young people’s lives and personal growth.

Alex began her musical studies in Virginia with the piano at age five, but switched to the clarinet at age eleven after joining the band program in middle school. This sparked her curiosity for the clarinet and world of classical music, and has only grown larger since. Music has allowed her to travel across the US and Europe, where she has performed with ensembles like Music Academy of the West and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Alex currently holds a Bachelor’s degree in Clarinet Performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Her primary teachers include Alexander Fiterstein, Michael Byerly, and Patti Carlson. Alex has supplemented her clarinet studies through masterclasses, workshops and summer festivals while she continues her education.
