Brittaney Pertsas has been an avid freelancer in the DMV region since 2022 after relocating from Florida. She is a big proponent of chamber music and has performed with various groups throughout the Baltimore region, including the renowned electronic artist Dan Deacon and the critically-acclaimed new music ensemble Mind on Fire. Pertsas has also performed with the National Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony, and played principal horn for the Spoleto Festival 2024 season. Her passion projects are Brittany Basement, an avant-garde and electronic free jazz trio, and Ensemble Vesper, a woodwind quintet dedicated to contemporary repertoire and under-represented composers. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Miami and her graduate degree at the Peabody Institute, where she studied with Robert Rearden. While in school, she received fellowships at the Aspen Music Festival, Banff Music Centre, Orford Winds, Domaine Forget, and performed with the New York String Orchestra Seminar. In her free time, she enjoys roller blading, reading, and helping her friends with film shoots.
