Jared Perry
Brass Band Director
Jared Perry is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and matriculated at Morgan State University, earning an Instrumental Music degree and a Master of Arts in Teaching while working in the University Honors Program as the Program Coordinator. He was selected by Morgan’s School of Education and Urban Studies as a Teacher of Promise through MSDE before finishing his master’s to receive mentoring from Harford County’s Teacher of the Year as he entered Baltimore city’s school system. He is proudly serving the historic Booker T. Washington Middle School for the Arts and the surrounding community as the Band Director and Arts Team Lead. He also serves on the SLT (senior leadership team), ILT (instructional leadership team), and mentors early career teachers in the school district. In addition, he works closely with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids program, where he has been a Brass Teaching Artist, Ensemble Director, Brass Band Director, mentored teachers, and more. He works regularly with music education students from UMBC, where he currently oversees an internship program. As a result of his hard work, he was nominated by parents and colleagues and selected as Baltimore City’s Teacher of the Year 2023-2024. This reintroduced him to the Teachers of Promise where he now mentors teachers of promise throughout the state of Maryland. He attributes his positive influence as an educator to God, his wife (Danielle), his church, family, friends, colleagues, and the wonderful students and parents that he has met and been blessed by over the years.
