Jessica Hanson

Upper Strings Teaching Artist

The Belair Edison School

Jessica Hanson is a multi-instrumentalist new to the Baltimore area. After receiving her Bachelors in Violin Performance and Anthropology, she ventured out into other genres outside of classical music including bluegrass, folk, gypsy jazz, blues, electronic music and eventually learning to compose her own original music. Her journey took her into the audio engineering world as well as experience in film and continues to grow from there.

She recently took a trip to Norway and discovered a new instrument called the Hardingfele, the national instrument of Norway, which has been a current passion and study of hers.

Jessica is currently teaching audio engineering classes, records for various bands and film, tours with folk artist Andrea von Kampen, and plays with local symphonies. She really appreciates being able to help spread music education to the community and enjoys learning from her students too!
