Lyndsey Notaro

Musicianship Teaching Assistant

The Belair-Edison School

Lyndsey Notaro, mezzo-soprano, has performed across the USA, toured Scotland and Ireland, and sang in Italy, Austria, France and Russia. Her training includes Vocal Pedagogy, with a focus on identifying and resolving vocal issues and working voices through transition utilizing spectrum analysis. While at Northwestern, Notaro managed the Voice Lab and curated the Black Art Song Initiative, bringing light to hidden voices.

Predominantly a Classical singer, Notaro has experience teaching in a classroom setting from preschoolers through college age and maintains a private voice studio. She is passionate about all forms of music: from Pop & Rock to Gospel & Jazz plus the whole gamut of Classical. Aside from voice, she studied piano, clarinet, handbells, music theory, and dabbles in composition.

Notaro was a finalist for the Opéra national de Paris and has performed many operatic roles including: The Witch in Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel; Le Prince Charmant and Madame de la Haltière in Massenet’s Cendrillon; Mrs. Nolan in Menotti’s The Medium; Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte. Lyndsey sings with Opera Baltimore, performs solo, has been featured in numerous choral ensembles, sang at Casa Verdi, and performed for Pope Francis at Domus Sanctae Marthae.

Notaro studied in Italy and Vienna where she interned at the Weiner Staatsoper in casting and planning. She learned how important it is to be versatile and communicate effectively in multiple languages: trained in Italian, German, French, Russian, and English diction. Lyndsey holds a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute and continues her study with Margaret Baroody & Denyce Graves; a Master of Music in Voice & Opera from Northwestern University studying with Karen Brunssen; and completed her undergraduate training at Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Religion.
