Ray Winder, a native of Baltimore, is an accomplished multi instrumentalist, composer, band leader, singer/songwriter, and teacher. Ray began her music career at nine years old. Playing saxophone in youth ensembles, spending summers at Tanglewood Institute in Massachuchets, and her high school years at the Baltimore School for the Arts. She furthered her musical education at the Peabody Conservatory, where she received numerous scholarships, awards, and accolades. During her time at Peabody, Ray began to play with jazz artists, solidifying herself as one of the best alto saxophone players in the jazz community. Her love of music led her to An Die Musik, a classical & jazz concert venue located in the historic Mt.Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore city. During her tenure at An Die Musik, Ray performed with world class musicians, hosted shows with her trio “Ray Winder Trio” exposing her music and skill to new audiences, and expanding her musical reach.

Ray Winder is a staple on the Baltimore music scene. Recently leading her talents to the 5th annual LoveGroove Music Festival as Music Director and band leader. 2021 was a year of expansion for Ray, playing with Philly artist Ivy Sole, opening for Skip Marley, playing in multiple big bands, releasing her debut single “Freedom,” composing and writing for multiple artists/albums, all while working on her debut album “Vignettes.” Over the years, Ray has traveled the country playing with amazing artists, experiencing new genres, and teaching youth. Ray Winder is committed to creating music at its highest level. Always evolving. Always pushing to the next level of artistry. Always living in the groove of life.
