    Special Performances

    Enjoy this performance of newly-composed music, colloboratively created by OrchKids students in the week leading up to the concert on March 22, 2024!

    "One Day" by Matisyahu, arranged by Brian Prechtl. This performance was conducted by Jonathon Heyward at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on May 17, 2023 as the finale of the OrchKids 15 Year Celebration Concert.

    OrchKids embarked on a fact-finding and inspiration-seeking journey, guided through the writings of Elaine Weiss and Dr. Martha Jones, to discover the intricate and contentious element of racism throughout the Suffrage Movement. While OrchKids students created an original composition, Johns Hopkins University film students gathered imagery to compliment the composition creating a special audio/visual presentation that informs - and at times challenges - our understanding of the history of the 19th Amendment and its effect on female empowerment today.
